about
what this is
dfma.tools is a small curated catalog of paid products and free tools for design-for-manufacture-and-assembly work, mostly in rhino + adjacent ecosystems.
who runs it
travis walters. fab and parametric design at raider boats (custom welded aluminum fishing boats in colville, washington). more about the broader practice at justgeo.co.
what gets listed
paid listings have to be useful, well-built, and clearly priced. each product page names its alternatives so buyers can self-select between catalog items, free options, and bigger-budget pro tools. no upsell tactics. no surprise subscriptions.
free tools and small utilities will show up over time as a funnel — they solve a real problem on their own and signal what kind of work the catalog is about. the bar for free is “would i be embarrassed to admit i made this?” and if the answer is no, it’s eligible.
who can list
right now it’s just travis. listings open up to other authors when their products meet the bar. if you’re working on something that fits, email help@dfma.tools.
why “dfma”
design-for-manufacture-and-assembly. the discipline that takes a design all the way through to “can a real shop with real tools and a real budget build this without rewriting it.” most cad files don’t survive that test. the tools listed here help close the gap between cad and the shop floor.
